Why Cagliostro

He talked his way into royal courts across Europe selling elixirs of eternal youth, alchemy, and secret societies he'd invented himself, none of it real. He was implicated in the Affair of the Diamond Necklace in France and spent months in the Bastille before being banished, and years later his own wife denounced him to the Inquisition in Rome. He was sentenced to death, and it was the Pope who commuted it to life in prison, where he died. There was something almost modern about him, a fraud who understood spectacle and self-invention better than almost anyone in his century. I've carried this fascination around for years, who knows why.

Cagliostro is the name I picked for something that was already on my mind for a long time: my starting project for the AI era.

This space serves more than one purpose. I'll use it to share the tools I build, and to write about the ideas and interests that come out of my work, technology and law, and where I think all of it is heading. Fair warning: I'm not exactly the optimistic type.

Cagliostro is that, no more and no less: a repository of what I'm doing, open to whoever wants to read it, argue with it, or just follow along. I'm excited to see where we go.
